Offshore Hemi-Marsh Wetland
LWC provided comprehensive Engineering Services for construction of off-shore hemi-marsh wetland. Hemi-marsh is a valuable habitat that is prevalent in the vicinity due to glacial, topographic, soil, and vegetative factors. Hemi-marsh is also especially desirable for wildlife diversity. Living Waters Consultants, Inc. provided Geomorphic Evaluations, Wetland Engineering Plans, Details, Specifications, Permitting, Bidding, Cost Estimates, Construction Observation, Monitoring and Maintenance Observation. A Conservation 2000 Grant was awarded to construct over 3 acres of off-shore and shoreline wetlands. An additional 3 acres of riparian restoration was provided. Benefits include habitat enhancement, shoreline erosion control, water quality improvement, and a demonstration for off-shore hemi-marsh wetland construction. Since project implementation, Bald Eagle have been observed at the Project Site. Numerous shorebirds, terns, cormorants have also been observed using the Project Site. Target wildlife species include Sandhill Crane which may continue to use the Site for breeding and rearing purposes. Living Waters Consultants observed construction by Earthwerks.
