U.S. EPA and Chicago Wilderness Native Landscaping Design Award honors were received for Stormwater Engineering BMP Design Details and Specifications to retrofit a Campus Development Plan. Engineering Design Practices included providing maximum flow path for three wetland detention basins, bioretention storage for campus rooftop runoff, bioswales storage and retention, vegetated swales, parking lot filter and bioswale zones, parking lot curb cuts, sediment forebays, and native planting specifications. Stormwater Engineering Design was based on pollutant modeling, stormwater modeling, nutrient loading for protection of downstream 19-acre lake, and groundwater assessment. Practically all Engineering Design recommendations were implemented.
